Looking for Fall 2026 PhD opportunities!
RM 4423, HKUST
Clear Water Bay, Hong Kong
Hello! I’m Wendi Liang, a Research Assistant working with Prof. Rob Scharff at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I received my B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) in July 2024.
At PolyU, I worked under the supervision of Prof. Henry Chu. I have also worked with Prof. Hongliang Ren at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and Prof. Di Wu at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). In summer 2023, I completed a research internship with Prof. Yue Hu at the University of Waterloo.
My research experience covers various aspects and applications of robotics. Initially, I developed a platform to remotely control a robotic arm using virtual reality (VR) devices. Subsequently, at the Bio-Robotics Lab at PolyU, I applied reinforcement learning methods to continuum robot models. At the Active and Interactive Robotics (A.I.R.) Lab, University of Waterloo, I further explored the application of reinforcement learning in enhancing human-robot interactions.
I am actively seeking PhD opportunities starting Fall 2026.
